Not a bad backdrop eh? Today saw my mum, Joel and I going for a drive with no destination in mind, and Williamson Park in Lancaster was just one of the places we found ourselves. Summer holidays give us time to kill so why not! And of course the Ashton Memorial with all it’s fancy architecture and cool lead in lines had to be photographed. Non-negotiable, that one.
Another of those shots that make you work hard! Literally laid on my back on the floor for this one and looked completely normal doing so, obviously. The symmetry’s not quite on point, I know, but I tried. It’s funny how our eyes seem to find symmetry pleasing. Symmetry, rule of thirds, lead in lines, all aesthetically pleasing for some reason or other but you can’t really put your finger on exactly why! It just is. This particular location is used for weddings all the time, and you can see why! Bridal party on the steps would just complete the shot, wouldn’t they?
Today was actually Joel’s birthday too. Promise he wasn’t as miserable as this photo would have you believe! My little/not-so-little brother is 15 today. We celebrated with presents and chocolate cake too, don’t worry. :P One present being this new pair of size huge trainers because my little brother has a shoe size double mine and needs shoes resembling canoes. Fun fact of the day for ya.
jeans: Select | shoes: New Look | top: Primark | bag and jacket: borrowed from mum (as per usual!)
This one’s Joel’s photography! My mum enlisted him as her apprentice. He needed an object to practice focusing on that wasn’t hills in the distance, so I was drafted in as a prop to stand at the side of the road whilst he took a shot through the window.
So, a wee catchup on life lately!
This week has absolutely flown by, for starters. Holiday blues keep hitting me – constantly thinking ‘this time last week we were doing X’ and wondering how the hell 7 days have passed already. At least being sad that a holiday’s over means the holiday itself was fun! That’s what we told ourselves on the last day anyway. I’ve started actually making proper plans from those many wishy-washy lists. Time to stop just babbling on about what I’d like to do, and actually sort it out! So yeah, that’s happening :P I baked crappy banana bread. Couldn’t find my usual recipe, and the replacement turned out underwhelming. I tampered with a friend’s wedding dress. At her request, of course! My sewing skills have been employed to make a few tweaks and I feel like it’s a pretty big responsibility haha.
I shan’t bore you with more drivel from my week – tell me something random from yours!

24th July 2015 at 8:10 pm“Drive with no destination in mind” is the best thing in the world! It looks like you had a magnificent day! As for me I am planning to jump into the car with my husband and a dog and spend a weekend camping on the beach under the starry sky and next to a campfire! With my needles, of course! 🙂

24th July 2015 at 8:22 pmIt’s one of my favourite things to do! Because you’d never think ‘I wanna go *here* today’, but once you’re there you can have a really good time.
Ok so your weekend sounds perfect! Enjoy it!
