Prom is the hot topic at the minute for those of us leaving school this year. Everyone’s chatting about the dresses, the transport, the fun. I’m by no means a ‘Promzilla’ and haven’t been taking it too seriously, but I’d heard that dress shopping was best done well in advance, so my mum and I decided that it might be a fun way to fill an afternoon. Turned out we didn’t need anywhere near that long! I had tried on a couple of evening gowns a few weeks ago and visited a couple of shops today, but by far the best customer service was had at Dan Kerr.
Pictured above is Emma Maddock, manager of this bridal emporium. We were greeted with a huge smile and exceptionally friendly manner, as she helped me select a variety of styles to try. She managed to be really helpful in offering advice, whilst totally accommodating my own preferences. Whilst I didn’t have a particular style in mind, I was fairly sure what I didn’t want. My mum said my face lit up when I tried a particular outfit on, so it seemed a waste of time to continue looking when I was fairly certain I’d come back to this one anyway. Never thought the process would be so quick!
For the average girl, there aren’t many occasions to buy dresses like this, so I think the actual buying experience should be a luxury in itself. Let’s face it, you’re talking about a luxury product. So often these glam stores have an impersonal feel, but Emma ensured this wasn’t the case at Dan Kerr, so a big thank you to her for making it such a fun experience!
Looking forward to picking my dress up in a few weeks. Onwards with the search for accessories now. 😀

18th February 2014 at 10:36 pmNever really been a big fan of “prom nights” and things like that, plus I lack the self confidence to wear dresses. I’m glad you found one you love and feel comfortable in, I hope I can find one like that for me if I ever decide to go. :)x
