Young woman wearing striped scarf on Yorkshire moors

A book! With my face on it! A knitting book, for Rowan Yarns nonetheless. We’ve had Rowan books on the shelves in this house for years and now there’s one with my face on to add to the collection. A more perfect modelling job for me there never was – knitter models knitwear seems like a good idea to me. Long time readers (and I do mean reallyyyyy long time) might remember my shoots for The Knitter and Fyberspates years ago – this isn’t my first time shooting for knitty books or magazines, you see. 12 year old Lily gave it her best poses too. However it was my first time shooting for Rowan, and hopefully my poses have improved a little since then.

The shoot took place towards the end of August in that lovely hot summer of 2018… on the one day that was cold and windy as hell. Obviously. Perfect day for shooting a collection named ‘Summerlite Horizons‘, I’m sure you’ll agree! We shot in and around the Bridestones near Todmorden in North Yorkshire, a picturesque area that I’d love to revisit under less blustery conditions. You wouldn’t think this was August just after a heatwave, would you? It was very much a case of quickly taking shots then piling 2 blankets and as many knits as possible on top, but you do what you gotta do!

Will climb on whatever rock is required to get the shot.

This one’s top of my want to knit list.

Have a nosey at the behind the scenes video if you fancy a chuckle at me trying to look warm. Thanks for having me, Rowan!

Rowan Summerlite Horizons is available online already and I think it’s in a few stores, so let me know if you spot/pick up my face!

Yahoo! You are all over this knitting mag! I have always liked Rowan, but I have stopped buying their knitting magazine once I reached about 30 magazines that I have not time to knit from, but I have to get this one! It is going to arrive at my local this month. I do remember the Knitter and Fyberspates collections too. One of your old readers, that is me.

I sure am! I’ve collected a fair few Rowan magazines too, but it would be a little crazy to buy every single one with 50 patterns in. This isn’t actually the classic Rowan magazine, it’s a book just with patterns for the Summerlite yarns so only 16 patterns in this one. Fyberspates and The Knitter were my first ever modelling shoots! I’m glad you’ve stuck around so long 🙂

When I saw the making of video, this summer, I was so sorry for the model. I didn’t know you were a knitter and had a blog. You must have suffered a lot with the cold!
