Photo heavy post warning! During the Easter holidays my mum had a shoot booked that was a wee bit different to anything we’d done before. Sobia wanted to shoot all her wedding outfits before the event itself. Nothing too out of the ordinary so far! We turned up bright and early and within 10 minutes I’d agreed to be dressed up and made up in full Asian wedding attire for another shoot. As you do! We had so much fun on both days. Everything was so so glam!
Sobia’s MUA cousin Mahnoor was in charge of all hair and makeup, and she did such a beautiful job! So stunning.
Makes a white wedding gown seem kinda dull doesn’t it?!? Models are often told to wear white as it reflects light onto the face, but if you’ve a dress made of mirrors, that’ll do the trick too. Minimalism wasn’t the theme of the day, in case you hadn’t noticed.
Love this shot! Dreamy dreamy
So much makeup!
My turn! I basically lived the day as a human doll and let Mahnoor and Sobia make and dress me up however they fancied. It’s fun to let someone else have free rein, leaving everything a surprise until you look in the mirror! Knew I was in good hands. 🙂 Was pretty cool finding out how a makeup artist works too; it’s completely different to how I’ve ever done my own makeup. She started with my eyes, then came foundation, then concealer, then eyebrows, then lipstick (if I remember rightly). Full face of makeup sans eyebrows looks so weird to me! Much appreciation for eyebrows. That’s the first and last time you’ll ever catch me pouting too! I’m probably the only teenage girl that doesn’t do the duck face or the trout pout or whatever you want to call it. Just feels so weird to me, and I look ridiculous! Only for the sake of contouring. 😛 I wear a little subtle bronzer day to day but I’ve never seen myself with cheekbones anything like this! It’s a look that I’ll leave to the pros, that’s for sure. Looks really cool but there’s no way I’d trust myself with that dark a shade!
Double rows of false lashes! Love it all. 😀 😀 😀
Playing around with all their jewellery and accessories was half the fun. That’s a belt draped across my forehead!
You know how it goes! Gotta be about the food. Such a glamourous eater aren’t I?
117 hairgrips later my hair was in the fanciest updo it’s ever seen! Loads of fake hair and afro hair stuffing and all sorts going on. I had absolutely no idea what look she was going for until I saw the finished product. Super heavy but I loved it so much! Seemed such a shame to take it down. And no, I totally didn’t put off tackling brushing it out until 3 days later at all…
This level of glam apparently brought out the inner diva bitchface in me haha, or so these photos would have you believe! We genuinely spent over half the day laughing though, promise.
And the outfit, oh wow. Just a bridal outfit they had to hand, as you do! So princessy. 😀 It’s not often I’ll get the chance to dress up in this kind of thing! It’s a totally different culture to anything I’ve been involved in before, and it was really interesting to hear about all the customs and meanings as well as just the fancy stuff.
Thank you so much to Mahnoor and Sobia for providing us with a fab day of all things glam, and to Nasreen for the lovely hospitality and food. And of course congratulations to Sobia on her wedding!
Apologies for excessive use of smiley faces. I am all about the emojis right now, don’t you know. 😛

17th April 2015 at 3:37 amWow! You are so decked out and stunning! The usual white dress for weddings seems a little plain in comparison. What a great opportunity to try everything. I cannot believe the makeup they did. What a level of expertise a girl must have to do all that!
