Pretty red dress. Need I say more? Probably not, but I shall regardless. Because I’m currently very fond of this pretty red dress and professing my love for inanimate objects is what I do. It’s the Audrey midi style  by Jones + Jones and is quite the darling of all the dresses. I’ve really liked Jones + Jones’ signature ‘poofy dress’ style for ages (and I’m not just saying that… I genuinely have) but had always written them off as Dresses For Short People. And left the site the same way I turn swiftly on my heel upon accidentally meandering into the petite section in Topshop. Those days are long gone. The last time I was 5’2, I was also 8 years old.
However… the Audrey dress (and others) are now available in tall-girl-butt-covering-length, aka ‘midi’. Yayy! Obviously I jumped at the opportunity to lay my paws on one. Not only is it butt covering length, but the waistline actually sits low enough on me too which is nothing short of a miracle. I think Reviewer Of Tall People Clothes would be a pretty good job title for me one day, don’t you? Maybe I’ve found my calling in life.
I have a wedding to attend in August and shall definitely be flaunting this one. If you can’t get away with a fancy frock for a wedding then when can you, really? Said wedding is to be Zelda themed, so that should be interesting!
Move my arms a bit and I’m suddenly the dancing gal emoji, too. Just an observation.
Open back / lacy back / anything fancy back will get me every time.
dress: c/o Jones + Jones | shoes: borrowed from Saskia (thanks girlll!)
I call this my best ‘Amber Pose’. Girl has ladylike full skirt posing down to an art. Not gonna lie, totally felt like an Amber impersonator swishing around in my poofy frock! I find myself saying ‘Oh that’s very *insert blogger here* when browsing clothes all the time. Swishy skirts will always be ‘Amber’. Not sure whether anything would be recognisably ‘Lily’?
How the hell do girls walk in heels all day? These aren’t exactly skyscrapers or spindly stilettos but I definitely knew about it after wearing them for half an hour. Baffles me how they manage it. I mean, I’m all for a little suffering for the style (strapless bra all day, anyone?) but jeeeez I’m not sure I could cope with 5 inch heels for a working day like I’ve seen some do. I don’t want/need the extra height day to day, so I’ll happily give that one a miss!
Shooting outfit photos on the most popular cycle route in Preston was bound to gain me some funny looks. The looks are funny enough when wearing an appropriate outfit, so prance around in heels not exactly intended for country lanes and that’ll really get the cyclists wondering. People usually stop and wait for fear of photobombing, thus providing extra gawping time. Curious looks don’t bother me really – you’ve just gotta suck it up and get on with it, regardless of who’s there. Some of their comments make me laugh, too! Once or twice I’ve said I’m working on a college photography project, when a passer-by’s seemed particularly baffled by the bizarre Girl Having Photo Taken phenomenon, but usually if anyone’s curious I just explain the blog thing. Some get it and ask what I blog about – 3 lovely ladies stopped their bikes for a chat on this occasion, which I’m always up for! Others seem even more confused as soon as I mention the word ‘blog’. Try explaining this stuff to someone who’s never heard of it before – it’s a difficult one!

I note something else, you let your bang/fringe grow ? I have got a bang/fringe and I don’t want it anymore but I don’t think that will be pretty if I don’t have my bang on my face..
Goodbye 😀 xoxo

29th July 2015 at 9:28 amIt’s such a beautiful dress isn’t it!
Yep, I’m growing out my fringe! I’d had it for a couple of years now and though it was time for a change. It’s much easier to clip back for the gym and stuff now that it’s longer too 🙂

My graduation dress wasn’t too disimilar to this actually – love the nipped-waist, poofy-skirt and lace back look! Very classic and versatile, too 🙂

30th July 2015 at 12:50 amExcellent dress choice. You look super gorgeous in it, yet it is more classic and demure than your other clothes. If you were in Toronto, I would worry that it would be way to hot to wear that to an August wedding, but then a typically English summer may work in your favour.

1st August 2015 at 8:07 amGlad you like it! Thank you very much 😀 For a wedding guest outfit I thought slightly more demure would be the way to go. I’m not gonna wear heels on the day either – the service starts at 10am so that’d be a pretty long day in heels! I’m looking out for a little pair of pointy flats to wear instead.
I wish I could rely on it being too hot! Mid August could just as likely be an absolute scorcher or pouring down with rain. England is a nightmare sometimes!

3rd August 2015 at 4:12 pmI’m absolutely in love with this dress. If I could I would buy it immediately. It’s so stunning and you look gorgeous in it. I really like lacy back. 🙂 I totally understand your feelings about heels. I wore high heels for the first time to my cousins wedding in June and I don’t know how I manage to walk in them for 11 hours. xo

7th August 2015 at 4:13 pmI love it too! Thank you so much 😀
I don’t know how you managed it either! For me being tall anyway, I don’t think I’d put myself through it for that long unnecessarily haha 🙂

18th September 2015 at 7:36 pmI’m considering buying this dress, it is just so beautiful and you look stunning! Just wondering what height you are? I’m 5 ft 4 and wondering if the midi version be below my knee
lily kate
27th September 2015 at 11:25 amIt is so so beautiful! I’m actually 5’11 (which is why I chose the midi rather than mini length) so I’d imagine it would sit below the knee on a 5’4 frame.
