Home again!
Thought I’d treat you to a lovely OOTD featuring rolled up age 12-13 zip-off trousers and hiking boots today, you lucky people!  And lots and lots of greenery in the background because… I’ve been in the Lakes and that’s what you get. I like trudging up a fell just as much as I like playing dress up and twirling around in glam dresses. I think there’s an assumption that you either like clothes and makeup and all that kind thing, or you like outdoors and mud and water, because you can’t possibly like BOTH?!?
In line with ‘keeping it local‘ – you don’t need to be in Ibiza or Santorini or California to have a good summer holiday, y’know? Sure, I wouldn’t complain about a little more sunshine but I’ve still had a fab week, regardless of partly drizzly weather. ‘Glam’ holidays are fun in their own right but I love more rustic ones too. Might just be the stables-kid within me! We weren’t exactly roughing it in a tent (hello cute cosy cottage) but I did see my fair share of the outdoors.
Something about the fit of these shorts makes me look about 5’2 and I’m not sure how I feel about it…
That said, I did slip a nude lipstick into my rucksack, just in case. What emergency would require Rimmel shade 03 I’m not sure, but if we’re gonna be ‘prepared’ with waterproof overtrousers and whatnot then ‘prepared’ might as well extend to lipstick. And a comb. Although you can probably tell I didn’t bother with that one. I can’t say I didn’t complain a little (and by little, I mean a lot) about the rain when my friend and I were 2 hours into a downpour and 4 miles from any phone signal, but nobody likes being that soaked. The walk had been my idea in the first place, btw. And once Lily says she’s doing something, ain’t nothing gonna stop her! I’ve decided I’m on a mission to prove (to myself and others) that fitness isn’t just being about gym classes, but any kind of physical activity. I blabbed on about walking and outdoors last year, but being in the Lakes for a week reaffirmed that I’d love to live somewhere like this one day. I’ve wanted to live here since like forever. Not right out in the sticks mind you… lack of wifi/human interaction and a half hour trek for a pint of milk would just about kill me off. A decent sized, accessible to the outside world, village with these stunning backdrops would suit me just fine. Not that I’ve walked past about 30 houses this week and said ‘I NEED TO LIVE THERE’ or anything…
In summary, let’s keep being outdoorsy and keep wearing pretty dresses, yes?
Oh and I also like outdoors in the form of a cute beer garden in the sun where not a great deal of physical activity occurs, so there’s that too.

9th August 2015 at 1:23 pmThank you so much Dee! That is quite the compliment 😀 If only every time I went for a walk it could be shorts weather haha 🙂
I’m still holding out hope for a warm end of August/September!

9th August 2015 at 1:03 pmYou still seem to have gotten the perfect outdoor holidays didn’t you? Sounds like loads of fun! TBH I love being away from Wifi and phone for a few hours or even a whole day every once in a while, it’s really relaxing to be disconnected! (unless you’re hiking in a forest and get lost, but that is a different problem eh!)
Have a nice day! xx

9th August 2015 at 1:25 pmThe Lakes is the perfect place for an outdoor holiday, you can pretty much try anything! I know what you mean about being disconnected – even if a phone signal would have been appreciated when we found ourselves with no way of getting home haha 🙂

9th August 2015 at 5:05 pmI love holidaying in the UK, we have so much gorgeous countryside waiting to be discovered. I only ventured to the Lakes for the first time this year, but it was stunning. I’m also a big fan of the Yorkshire Dales, and I blogged about our week there if you’d like to take a look
I also constantly wish for the houses I walk past when in the countryside, so it’s definitely not just you. Wish I looked as glam as you do whilst out walking though – I wind up a red faced sweaty mess!

12th August 2015 at 12:14 pmSame here! Sometimes I’m a little bit jelly of people jetting off abroad (one of my best friends is in Hawaii ATM!) but I still LOVE holidaying in the UK too. I’ll check out your post! I’d imagine the Yorkshire Dales have a pretty similar kind of vibe to the Lakes – I haven’t spent much time there myself but think I really should. 🙂
Thanks for commenting!

9th August 2015 at 5:29 pmRustic holidays are only second best when you choose holidays indoors on the internet! Hahaha! I’m not much of an outdoorsy girl even though I live in a place of gorgeous greenery! Maybe I should go on a live-in holiday one of these days! Haha! <3

13th August 2015 at 10:53 amI’m all for outdoor and long walks true woods. I find it so calming and any physical activity is good. Although I should probably do that more often. xo

Thanks for stopping by!
