Possibly the most inappropriate outfits for today’s weather (June and January are interchangeable, apparently) but hey, here’s a lil’ summery thing I’ve been up to with Matalan lately. Considering my Facebook feed’s full of airport check-ins here there and everywhere, ‘Holiday Abroad Styling’ is perfectly timed. Might be blanket weather here but it seems half the population is off on their jollies anyway so we’ll roll with it. Behold the beach holiday capsule wardrobe, expertly styled by yours truly (humour me).
I won’t go into much detail about the items here since I’ve already written a full rundown over on Matalan’s blog, and I think you get the gist of the black and white theme anyway. With the obligatory cliché ‘pop of colour’, ofc. Can’t go without that. I was asked to style items for a beach holiday and I’ll definitely be taking them all to France with me next month, but tbh I think most will be in my suitcase for Budapest next week too. And no, I probably won’t shut up about Budapest before, during, or after our trip. #SorryNotSorry and all that. I can see all the items working equally well for a city break as the beach (providing I keep the white skirt spill-free) so I’d say for under £50 total, this ain’t a bad multitasking capsule wardrobe.
OK so just one note about the hat. It’s both slightly ridiculous and very fabulous at the same time and I love it. Not gonna lie I think it might be a smidge OTT for my city break, but get me to the beach and this will not be leaving my head. Still haven’t found a way to store it other than like an ornament perched on my banister though…
all items (apart from sandals) c/o Matalan
And and AND… guess who’s a free woman as of today? Tad melodramatic but yeah, I finished my A levels yesterday so HI, Lily the (temporary) full time blogger, at your service. Got my avocado and toast and coffee by my side and everything. ;) I am SO frickin happy to be done though, seriously. Literally went straight from my exam yesterday to the pub for my gal pal’s bday to spend 9 hours drinking dirt cheap cocktails and eating nachos. It was fab. What with exams and whatnot it had been ages since we’d all been together, so it was a perfect way to just chill out and catch up and have a laugh without instagramming or tweeting a single thing. Can put the world to rights over several jugs of pornstar martini, you know! Today though, today I am back on it. Blogger mode ON. Hasn’t quite sunk in yet that I’m done with classroom/conventional education forever, but I’m sure as hell loving the freedom. Here’s to summer, even if Britain hasn’t quite got the memo! [Cheers emoji]

1st July 2016 at 9:21 amThat sounds amazing! I don’t blame you for being super excited. We don’t celebrate Independence day here in the UK but I’m going on holiday on Monday, so that’s enough reason to celebrate the 4th of July for me!
