audrey | Jones & Jones little black dress

Good morning.  Here’s my standard Wednesday morning outfit, whaddya think?

I am, however, an absolute sucker for a pretty dress, so if an occasion did arise where a lace LBD was suitable for 8am on a Wednesday, I’d take it.  Short of such an occasion, I’ll prance around in it at weekends instead.  Lace and petticoats and tulle and ahh, so cute – Jones and Jones always nail this one.  I’ve gone for black this time, so toned down and not too stereotypically girly, ’cause I like ‘girly girl’ clothes in moderation you see.  Some days I just want the boyfriend jeans instead, but sometimes, I am ALL about the girliness.  A dress that nips you in in all the right places is pretty confidence boosting.

The Audrey style has been my original fave since wayyy back before my first J&J outfit, and I gotta say Audrey 2.0 is still up there.  Maybe not for a wedding guest outfit this time (black outfits for weddings are a no-go, right? Or am I a century behind???) but any other dressy occasion would work just nicely.  Shame Wednesday mornings don’t count as dressy occasions, isn’t it?

Obviously this one isn’t a handmade creation of mine, but the pleat details around the waist have reminded me just how much I want to get back into sewing myself.  That and the Great British Sewing Bee, obviously… love that programme.  I’ll make something pleated purely for the satisfaction of sewing pleats.  Once exams are over (feels like I’ve been saying that for the past year, but whatever) I’ll be cracking out the sewing machine, the crochet hooks and the knitting needles and *hopefully* churning out handmade items left right and centre, so watch this space!

Still a sucker for any kind of back detail /lace back / open back etc. etc. too.  Every damn time.

On a final note, I’m off on an extremely last minute trip to Mallorca this weekend so yeah, YAY for me! The itinerary looks fab and I just can’t wait tbh. Good job it’s so last-minute because boy am I excitable and impatient. I’ll be instagramming and tweeting everything so come follow!
