park and plaid

Plaid shirt worn with denim dungarees. Photographed at Preston railway station

First outfit post of 2015!  Snapped a few quick pictures before picking up some bits and pieces in town with mama.  Multi storey car parks actually make half decent locations!  Interesting light too.  Since receiving this check shirt for Christmas I’ve worn it more than I should probably admit.  Shock horror, black and white goes with everything.  I like that it’s a flannel-y material rather than sheer(ish) like most shirts.  Keeps selling out at H&M anyway so must be a good one.  Mine’s a size 12 and I’d usually wear an 8 or 10, but when shirts aren’t really tailored I think they’re better that little bit oversized, rather than pretending to be fitted and not quite making it!

My lipstick is from Primark would you believe!  As far as I can remember it cost ร‚ยฃ1.50, and has near enough unbeatable staying power.  After a while it feels kinda chalky on the lips and isn’t exactly moisturising, but the colour is fab.  Red lipstick for daytime – or any bold lipstick for daytime, for that matter – is a look I’m a fan of.  I’m one of those girls who wears bright lipstick for college, because why not!  Adds a bit of colour when you need it.  If I’ve a fairly simple or neutral outfit on I almost feel naked without a *blogger cliche warning* pop of colour somewhere.

You can’t see it brilliantly here but I actually wore my black cape too, and my mum and I looked quite the double act seeing as she wore hers too!  We deliberated beforehand whether the Batman and Robin resemblance was too strong but went out as a fringe cape-clad pair anyway.   It’s funny how whenever we go out, we always seem to accidentally co-ordinate or match in some way, totally unplanned!  Never ever clash.

Those dungarees again, I know!  Sometimes normal jeans just look boring with baggy tops, but these just seem to add some shape or whatever that makes them look that little bit better.  Maybe a slight hillbilly vibe going on with a check shirt, dungarees and pointy western boots but there are worse vibes I think.

Back to college tomorrow, wahh!  I’m excited to see everyone again and I do actually enjoy it, but I seriously need another week off.  Mock exams are in the second week back and we’ve had plenty lectures on their importance for predicted grades for uni and all that.  I’ve done a reasonable amount of revision but still, it feels like I sat my GCSEs not that long ago and here I am sitting an AS physics paper.  After my GCSE results I’ve been set high targets for A-levels and I want to do well for myself anyway, so that’s gonna mean lots of hard work from now on.  Plus keeping on top of my blog, dancing 3 times per week and having a social life, I’ve lots on my plate over the next few months!  It’s scary to think that the next time I’ll be able to properly relax without revision or work to do will be the summer holidays. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ  Anybody else in the same busy boat?

Thank you Hannah! It’s not the end of the world if they don’t go brilliantly, but it’d just be nice to know if I’m doing ok!

me too! I was so happy to find these in H&M, I don’t usually like the baggy ones (on me anyway) and I’d only seen really expensive skinny ones before. Best find!

Definitely on the same busy boat – and here I am, reading blog posts instead of actually revising haha. I’m not a fan of dungarees on myself because I still haven’t found ones that don’t look baggy, but yours look amazing on you! What a lovely outfit AND what a lovely lipstick, I’ll be looking for it next time I go to Primark! (I’m definitely the kind of person that wears bright lipstick to uni too, especially if I’m wearing a neutral outfit OR if it’s raining. Here’s to bright lips!)

Oh that’s what I’m doing too Tania! Reading blog posts somehow feels productive haha. These were the first pair I found that aren’t loose and baggy – that look reallyyyy doesn’t work on me.
Thank you so much! Here’s to bright lips indeed ๐Ÿ˜€

Somehow you manage pull every single outfit off – ones that I can’t imagine myself wearing in the foreseeable future – but it really works! And Primark?!? I’m fooled for words.

I think everybody feels as though they are in a similar boat – I have my GCSE mocks starting Tuesday, and then GCSE’s in the summer. Egh. What are you hoping to study at University?:)

I’m sure you’d look fabulous in anything Lauryn! Pretty good for Primark isn’t it?
Good luck with your mocks! I remember my GCSE mocks last year and how it’s actually really stressful because you’re not given proper time to revise. We weren’t, anyway! AS levels are definitely a big step up difficulty wise but we’re at least given revision time.
I’m hoping to study history, but doing a distance learning (probably Open University) degree rather than going to a normal uni! Don’t want to tie myself to any place or time ๐Ÿ™‚ How about you?

Oh, you! Thank you so much – the good luck sharing is mutual. We weren’t given any time to revise outside of the Christmas break – though when we don’t have an exam on, we’re being given structured revision sessions in place of our normal lessons throughout the mock period, which could be worse I suppose! Also, I’ve never known anybody to have done the whole Open University thing, but I have a lot of respect for those who do. It certainly intrigues me! Me, I think English Lit at a traditional Uni. Thinking of taking English lit, history, government/politics and philosophy (and EPQ etc). I better attempt to survive GCSE’s first!! Hope you’ve had a nice weekend, and once again, good luck!xox

You’re very welcome! That’s a bit better than the arrangement we had for GCSE mocks where we had to continue with regular lessons around the exams. For AS levels we’re pretty much just revising for this first week back then have exams in the second.
I haven’t known anyone else who has done it either! Gonna require lots of self determination that’s for sure.
You’ll do great in your GCSEs! Those are the exact same subjects one of my best friends is doing at college and she really likes it so far. I don’t think I could cope with 4 essay based subjects (History is enough for me, I need my Maths and my arty subject too) but some people seem to really like it!
          Lots of love ๐Ÿ™‚
