9 things that made me happy lately

Happy things lately, original idea Lily, 10/10 for creativity!!!  Sure nobody’s ever done that before.  Whilst I do like writing what I call my ‘waffly’ posts (known formally as the Ramblings category, go read) and have fun travel ones to share, I thought I’d go back to old school blogging basics this Monday afternoon.  Bedroom outfit photos and all!  It’s been a while since my old ‘Lily diaries’ posts, but I thought I’d just share some highlights from the past few weeks, because why not.

— Finally meeting people I’ve known online for years.   I met Antonia in Zagreb and will be meeting Chloe later this week, which I can’t wait for!  Always fun to put (real life) faces to (online) names.

— The Northern Blog Awards.  What. A. Highlight. I’m obviously gonna write a full post about the event (I won something, guys!  I won!) but it’s definitely deserving of a mention in the highlights, too.  SUCH a good night.

— Having my first brew and a kitty cuddle after getting home.  Always good, even if I’d only been away 6 days.  Plus, I don’t care how good the coffee is anywhere else, home is always best.  *Says whilst drinking 4th cup of the day*

— Re-finding my photo style.  I wasn’t really happy with the photos I was taking/posting for a while as we transitioned out of summer, (stuck in Summer/Autumn limbo and not embracing either) but I’m actually liking them again now so that’s nice.  Felt good to be taking travel-y photos again with my trip to Zagreb so I can’t wait to post them all here.  Just a mountain of editing to plough through first…

— Enjoying a leisurely hotel breakfast with my mum.  We stayed at the Principal Hotel (where the Northern Blog Awards were held) on Saturday night and enjoyed a big, yummy breakfast in our room before leaving on Sunday morning.  Food was always going to be on the highlights list somewhere.

— Loving my autumn clothes again. – now I know I’ve just written a whole blog post about how we overhype things and probably aren’t quite as excited about knitwear as we profess to be… but I do really love a good sweater.  Stand my ground on that one.  Can’t beat a cosy hug of a jumper can you?  Now I can wear them all without feeling like I *should* still be wearing summer clothes too, so that’s making for a happy Lil.  Still won’t wear tights until October though.

— Filling my diary for the next month.  As in, enjoying making plans with people, and the actual diary filling part (I have a snazzy big monthly planner OK, let a girl enjoy it).  Looks like it’s gonna be an averagely busy month (so far) which is fine with me.  Some months are cray, sometimes I need to get my head down.

— Being told my ‘real life’ personality comes across through my blog.  That doesn’t make sense.  Being told I’m exactly as I seem on my blog… better?  Hopefully I’m better at explaining things in person, that’s for sure.  The very very lovely Hannah told me this at the awards on Saturday, and it certainly made me happy!  In the current bloggy climate rife with suspicion and fakery, I’m very glad that I come across exactly as myself.

— Booking an Airbnb for my next trip.  Last year Tasmin and I unknowingly booked the same flights to Hamburg and ended up having a mini gals trip, so when this year’s Ryanair flight sale came around, we chose some together.  Milan looked like a good choice, so off we go!  Unless that particular flight falls victim to Ryanair’s current cancellation shenanigans, that is… Pls don’t cancel pls don’t cancel.  Any Milan tips and recommendations would be much appreciated!

Tell me a highlight of your week/month!

These are my favorite kind of posts. Thank you for including me in this list. It was so nice to finally meet you and it kind of feels surreal as I never imagined that I’ll have the privilege to actually meet you in person. Especially as I’ve been following you for a long time now and just adore you and your blog. xo

How funny that you both booked the same flight! I hope your flight doesn’t get cancelled – no idea what on earth is going on there with all of those cancellations they keep making. Big congratulations on your award win x
